    Providing details on the case, DCP Central Vikrant Veer stated that an FIR under serious penal sections has been registered against the accused police officer based on a written complaint submitted by the victim. Acting on the directives of senior officials, the accused sub-inspector has been placed under suspension with immediate effect. The DCP clarified that the comprehensive and impartial probe has been entrusted to ACP Cantt, and further stringent legal actions will follow based on concrete evidence gathered during the investigation.

    Origin of the Case and the Lucknow Connection

    According to information shared by the victim, she befriended a man belonging to Basti district about a year ago. It is alleged that the man established physical relations with her multiple times by promising marriage, only to renege on his promise later. A formal case regarding this initial matter was registered in February 2026 at the Chhaavni police station in Basti district. Procedurally, the investigation and case file were subsequently transferred to the Ashiyana police station in Lucknow.

    Serious Allegations Against the Ashiyana Police Station Sub-Inspector

    The victim alleged that on February 21, 2026, Sub-Inspector Dharmendra Shahi, posted at the Ashiyana police station, summoned her to the station under the pretext of recording her statement. She alleged that under the guise of offering assistance, the sub-inspector called her to a room near the Ashiyana police station and Qila crossing, where he repeatedly forced her into physical relations. Furthermore, the victim leveled serious accusations that the officer continuously threatened to circulate her private photos and videos on social media and ruin her life by implicating her in false cases. Additionally, on the night of July 30, when the victim stepped out of her house to fetch medicine for her mother, the accused police officer intercepted and physically assaulted her on the road. Police are currently conducting a thorough investigation incorporating all these allegations and technical evidence.

    Thirty-year-old Anjali Singh, a resident of Sonic village in Unnao district, mysteriously disappeared from her home on the intervening night of July 30-31. To prove his innocence and divert the attention of police and family members, the cunning husband, Umendra Pratap Singh, visited the Rahimabad police station on July 31 itself to file a missing person report for his wife.

    The Mortuary Escape After Identifying the Body

    On the evening of July 31, an unidentified woman’s body was recovered from the Gomti River in the Itaunja area. When Rahimabad police took Umendra to the KGMU mortuary for identification, he identified the body as his wife, Anjali. Sensing that the legal noose was tightening immediately upon identification, Umendra gave police the slip and fled right from the mortuary out of fear of arrest.

    Brother’s Allegations and CDR Analysis Unravel the Plot

    The victim’s brother, Pushpendra Pratap, filed a formal complaint alleging that Umendra maintained illicit relations with another woman, and Anjali was subjected to torture whenever she opposed it. Acting on the brother’s suspicions, the Rahimabad police analyzed CCTV footage, mobile Call Detail Records (CDRs), and forensic evidence, exposing the entire conspiracy. Police swiftly arrested the accused husband, Umendra, along with his girlfriend, Aarti Verma, a resident of Madiaon.

    Raids Underway to Nab Other Accused

    Rahimabad Inspector Arun Kumar Trigunayat stated that the Swift Dzire car used in the murder, two mobile phones, and gold-silver jewellery worth lakhs have been successfully recovered. Police teams are conducting continuous raids to apprehend other co-accused named or surfaced during the investigation, and they will soon be sent behind bars.

Strict police directives mandate that any protests or demonstrations without prior permission will only be allowed at the designated Eco Garden, while demonstrations, the entry of tractor-trolleys, and drone shooting remain strictly banned in other areas.

    Slow-Moving Vehicles and Weapons Prohibited in Vidhan Bhavan Perimeter

    To ensure smooth security and traffic control during the session, several restrictions have been enforced within the main perimeter of the Vidhan Bhavan. The entry of slow-moving vehicles—including tractors, tractor-trolleys, tongas, bullock carts, buffalo carts—is completely barred. Furthermore, carrying weapons, inflammable materials, gas cylinders, and other hazardous objects in and around the Vidhan Bhavan area is strictly prohibited.

    Major Routes Restricted for Security Reasons

    According to orders issued by the police administration, several key routes within VIP and sensitive zones have been placed under restricted areas:

    • Lalbatti Crossing to Bandriyabag Crossing.

    • Bandriyabag Crossing to Golf Club Crossing and via Park Road to Civil Hospital Crossing.

    • Civil Hospital Crossing to Atal Chowk and via Mayfair T-point to Novelty Crossing.

    • Novelty Crossing via ITMS Crossing to Burlington Crossing.

    • Burlington Crossing via Sadar Cantt bridge to Udayganj T-point.

    • Udayganj T-point via Abdul Hamid Crossing to Lalbatti Crossing.

    Holding unauthorized protests or engaging in activities that compromise security along all these identified routes and zones is strictly forbidden.

    No-Flying Zone: Strict Ban on Drones and Photography

    The airspace above and surrounding the Vidhan Bhavan, Raj Bhavan, Chief Minister’s residence, and other vital government offices has been secured as a ‘No-Flying Zone’. Using drone cameras for recording or conducting any form of videography and photography in these areas without prior permission from the Commissioner of Police or Joint Commissioner of Police is strictly prohibited.

    Protests Permitted Only at Eco Garden

    The administration has made it clear that barring the government-designated site ‘Eco Garden’, staging protests anywhere else in Lucknow without prior permission will invite strict legal action. Furthermore, gathering in groups of five or more people, taking out processions, or assembling as crowds in public spaces without prior authorization faces severe restrictions.

    Security forces will maintain a 24/7 deployment around the Vidhan Bhavan, Lok Bhavan, and Jan Bhavan, strictly preventing the entry of any suspicious individuals. The hotel operator is accused of providing a room to the minor without any valid identity proof and criminally abetting the serious offense. The accused hotel owner has been produced before a court and sent to judicial custody.

    How the Case Unfolded

    On July 24, a complainant reported the mysterious disappearance of her 16-year-old minor sister-in-law. During the intensive police investigation, it was revealed that an accused named Durgesh, along with his wife Khushboo and a woman named Rabia, had lured and kept the minor with them. Between July 18 and 20, Rabia, accompanied by her husband Vinod, took the teenager to a hotel in the PGI area, where she was introduced to Dwarika Raidas. According to the allegations, the minor was subjected to gang rape inside the hotel room over a period of three days.

    Five Accused Already Behind Bars

    Following the incident, the Mohanlalganj police registered a case under stringent provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the POCSO Act. Acting swiftly, the police had earlier arrested and jailed five prime named accused—Dwarika, Vinod Rawat, Durgesh Rawat, Khushboo, and Rabia. During further investigation, scrutiny of CCTV footage and technical evidence exposed the involvement of the hotel management.

    Exposed by CCTV: Room Provided Without Verification

    Police investigation revealed that hotel owner Deepak Gupta blatantly flouted rules by accommodating the minor girl in his hotel without any valid identity proof. Main accused Dwarika was also staying at the same hotel during that period. Armed with concrete evidence, police arrested Deepak Gupta on Sunday. During interrogation, the accused confessed to his crime, admitting that the victim, the other accused, and Dwarika had stayed at his hotel, and sought forgiveness for his negligence.

    Strict Warning and Directives from Police Administration

    ACP Mohanlalganj Rajesh Kumar Singh adopted a stern stance on the matter, making it clear that anyone directly or indirectly assisting criminals or involved in crimes concerning minors will face unsparing action. Issuing a strict warning to all hotel, lodge, and guest house operators, he mandated that no room or shelter should be given to any individual without proper and valid identity documents. Authorities have asserted that strict legal action will continue against violators without exception.

    The King George’s Medical University (KGMU) Trauma Center in Lucknow is set to significantly accelerate treatment speeds for critical patients. With the installation of a new mobile CT scan machine directly in the casualty ward, patients suffering from head injuries will no longer need to be shifted across long distances for diagnostic imaging. Prompt reports will allow doctors to initiate life-saving treatments without delay.

    Faster Diagnostics for Head Injury Patients in Casualty

    Currently, the trauma center houses approximately 400 beds that remain fully occupied most of the time, often accommodating over 120 patients on stretchers alone, with more than 300 emergency patients arriving daily. Previously, head injury patients faced extended waiting times due to the availability of only a single CT scan machine.

    To resolve this issue, the trauma center has procured a dedicated mobile CT scan machine for the casualty ward. According to Trauma CMS Dr. Premraj Singh, an application has already been submitted to the Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB) for operational clearance, and approval is expected within a week. Once functional, doctors can prescribe and execute immediate CT scans right inside the casualty unit.

    Upgraded X-Ray Services Across Wards

    In addition to the upcoming CT scan facility, the KGMU Trauma Center has received three new mobile X-ray machines. Diagnostic imaging services have already commenced using these new units across the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), pediatric ward, and casualty. Previously, the hospital relied on a single mobile X-ray machine for all wards, causing prolonged waiting periods for patients. The expanded equipment inventory will drastically reduce turnaround times, enabling medical staff to deliver timely interventions.

Accused Haider Ali Baig is missing since June 12. Two teams of Chowk police are continuously raiding to search for him. According to Jailor Ritwik Priyadarshi, Haider Ali Baig, a resident of Chandipur village in Odisha’s Balasore district, was sent to jail from Sarojini Nagar police station in January last year on charges of rape, fraud and other sections. He was lodged in the district jail. On May 31, he was first admitted to the jail hospital after vomiting blood and his health deteriorated.
    When his condition didn’t improve, he was referred to Balrampur Hospital on June 4th, and from there to KGMU. Head Constables Dinesh Kumar and Dharmendra Singh were on duty at KGMU to monitor Haider. During a morning check-up on June 12th, jail guard Nagesh Chandra Saroj reported that Haider had escaped from KGMU. The two policemen searched extensively, but found no trace of him. Based on the jailer’s complaint, a case has been registered against Dinesh Kumar and Dharmendra Singh at the Chowk police station for this negligence. Chowk police station in-charge Nagesh Upadhyay stated that after the case was registered, two teams have been formed to arrest the accused. Continuous raids are being conducted. Due to the lack of any trace of the accused, senior officials have announced a reward of 25,000 rupees for him.
