The uncertainty surrounding Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s upcoming event ‘Chatron ki Goonj’ in Prayagraj has finally come to an end. The event is scheduled to take place as originally planned on August 8 at the KP College Ground. Initially, the permission for the event was revoked, but following a written letter of undertaking and assurances from Uttar Pradesh Congress President Ajay Rai, the Kayastha Pathshala (KP Trust) has officially withdrawn its previous cancellation order. The Trust has now granted permission to hold the event subject to specific terms and conditions and formal approval from the district administration.
Congress President Submits Written Undertaking to Secure Approval
To resolve the controversy, UP Congress State President Ajay Rai submitted an official letter and undertaking to the acting president of the KP Trust, Chaudhary Jitendra Nath Singh. Through this letter, the Congress President assured that during the event scheduled for 5:00 PM on August 8, complete security of the sports ground and premises will be ensured. Furthermore, only that portion of the ground will be utilized which does not disrupt the daily sports and athletic activities of the students.
Commitment to Compensate for Damages and Follow Rules
Ajay Rai explicitly stated in his letter that all orders issued by the Allahabad High Court or any other court of law will be strictly complied with during the event, and no directives will be flouted. The school premises will be used strictly within the defined guidelines. If any damage is caused to the sports ground during preparations or the main event, full compensation and repair costs will be borne entirely by the Congress Committee. The letter also emphasized that the event is completely non-commercial and will fully adhere to the public interest orders passed by the Allahabad High Court in 2025.
Organizing Committee Accelerates Preparations
Following the written assurance from the state Congress president, KP Trust acting president Chaudhary Jitendra Nath Singh cancelled the cancellation order issued on August 5 and granted permission to proceed with the event. With this approval secured, the organizing committee has swung into action, completing all necessary formalities with the district administration and expediting preparations on a war footing.
