KANPUR: A shocking incident has come to light from the Maharajpur police station area in Uttar Pradesh’s Kanpur district. Distressed over an old property dispute, a young woman suddenly climbed up a high-tension electricity tower near Hathigaon Mawaiya village in Sarasaul on Wednesday evening. As soon as information about the incident spread, panic gripped the local area, and a massive crowd of onlookers gathered at the spot. However, the police team reached the location promptly and, displaying great presence of mind and counseling, safely brought the woman down after sustained efforts, averting a major disaster.

Land Dispute Matter Sub Judice in Court

Initial police investigations and inquiries revealed that the young woman’s family has been locked in a prolonged dispute with another party over land possession. Frustrated by this ongoing property feud, the woman climbed the high-tension tower to register her protest and draw attention to her plight. Police clarified that the land dispute is already sub judice in a court of law. Furthermore, preventive actions under Sections 126 and 135 of the BNSS had already been initiated against both parties on May 24, 2026, in connection with the same dispute.

Prompt Police Action Saves Life

Upon receiving the distress call via Dial-112 on Wednesday evening, Sarasaul Outpost In-Charge Sub-Inspector Rajmohan Mishra rushed to the scene along with his police team. Demonstrating immense tact, patience, and composure, the police personnel engaged with the woman and successfully managed to coax her down safely. Local administration and police officials stated that necessary legal actions are being taken in accordance with the law regarding this matter.
