A deeply tragic and shocking news has emerged from the prestigious institution, IIT Kharagpur, in West Bengal. The suspicious death of meritorious student Ankit Sharma has shaken everyone. Rejecting the theories of an accident or suicide, the deceased’s family has made grave allegations of murder, claiming that Ankit was pushed to his death from the fourth floor as part of a conspiracy.
Incident at Nalanda Complex, Body Sent for Post-Mortem
The tragic incident occurred on Thursday at around 3:30 PM. Ankit Sharma, a second-year mechanical engineering student, fell from the fourth floor of the Nalanda Complex at IIT Kharagpur, resulting in his immediate death. On Friday, the deceased’s body was sent to Medinipur Medical College for a post-mortem examination in the presence of his family members. The student’s uncle, Bhanwarlal Sharma, and cousin, Jaiprakash Sharma, were specially present during the procedure.
Family Questions Police and IIT Management Theories
Following the incident, the police and IIT management have primarily floated two possibilities regarding the cause of death. The first theory suggests that Ankit was sitting on the balcony railing talking on his mobile phone when he lost his balance and fell. The second possibility suggests that it had rained on the day of the incident, making the balcony slippery, which led to a slip and fall.
Rejecting both possibilities, the deceased’s uncle Bhanwarlal raised several logical questions. He argued that the balcony features a sturdy security railing, making a simple slip-and-fall scenario implausible. Furthermore, he noted that Ankit had regular classes starting at 3:00 PM, questioning why he would sit on a railing and talk on the phone during class hours. The family believes he may have had a dispute with someone and was deliberately pushed.
Questions Raised Over Money Demand and Missing CCTV
The family highlighted several points that weaken the theories of suicide or a routine accident:

Demand for Money: According to the family, just an hour before the incident (around 2:30 PM), Ankit called home asking for 5,000 rupees. The family questions why a student planning to take his own life would ask for money from home.

Nature of Injuries: The family stated that a slip-and-fall would likely result in primary injuries to the hands or legs. How he fell straight past the railing remains a subject of investigation.

CCTV and Witnesses: The family raised a major question as to why there was no CCTV camera installed at the exact spot where the tragedy occurred. Additionally, they asked how no students or teachers noticed the incident despite many being present in the complex during class hours.
Internal Inquiry Committee Formed, Family Seeks Legal Advice
The family has made it clear that they will consult legal experts and lodge a formal police complaint regarding the entire matter. Meanwhile, police stated that they are investigating the case from all angles—accident, suicide, and foul play. The IIT management has also formed an internal inquiry committee to uncover the truth behind the incident as soon as possible.
