The Uttar Pradesh government carried out a major administrative reshuffle late Thursday night, transferring two district magistrates (DMs) and several senior IAS and PCS officers. The changes affect key postings in Jalaun, Bahraich, Jhansi, Barabanki, Kanpur, Gonda and Lucknow.

The late-night orders have triggered movement across the state administrative machinery, with officers being assigned new responsibilities with immediate effect. The government has also shifted six PCS officers as part of the exercise.

In one of the key changes, Jalaun District Magistrate Rajesh Kumar Pandey has been transferred and appointed as the new District Magistrate of Bahraich. Samir, who was serving as Special Secretary, Information Technology and Electronics at the state government level, has been posted as the new DM of Jalaun.

The changes also include a shift involving Jhansi Municipal Corporation. Akanksha Rana, who was serving as the Municipal Commissioner of Jhansi, has been transferred and appointed Special Secretary, Information Technology and Electronics.

Barabanki and Jhansi have also received new officers. B. Soodan, who was working as the Chief Development Officer (CDO) of Barabanki, has been appointed Municipal Commissioner of Jhansi. Pankaj Verma, Secretary at the Moradabad Development Authority, will take charge as the new CDO of Barabanki.

The changes come at a time when district administrations are handling multiple development and implementation responsibilities, making senior-level postings significant for the functioning of local government. The new appointments are expected to bring changes in the administrative leadership of the concerned districts and departments.

Alongside the IAS reshuffle, six PCS officers have been given new assignments.

Sushil Pratap Singh has been appointed Secretary of the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA). He was earlier serving as Registrar of Bhatkhande Sanskriti University and Additional Director in the Directorate of Culture. Atul Kumar, who was serving as Joint Secretary in the LDA, has been appointed Registrar of Bhatkhande Sanskriti University and Additional Director in the Directorate of Culture.

There have also been changes in Kanpur, Gonda and Jhansi.

Rajesh Kumar Singh, who was posted as Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) in Budaun, has been appointed Additional District Magistrate (Civil Supplies) in Kanpur Nagar. Sanjay Kumar Singh, Additional District Magistrate (Finance and Revenue) in Gonda, has been shifted to the Youth Welfare and Provincial Rakshak Dal department as Deputy Director (Administration).

Promod Jha, who was serving as City Magistrate in Jhansi, has been appointed Additional District Magistrate (Finance and Revenue) in Gonda. Yogeshwar Singh, posted as an SDM in Kushinagar, will now serve as the new City Magistrate of Jhansi.

The government has directed all the transferred officers to assume charge of their new posts with immediate effect.

The reshuffle is being viewed as part of the state government’s effort to streamline the administrative setup and place officers in key field and departmental positions. Further details on the government’s assessment behind individual postings were not immediately available.
